About this trip

Dear SMOS Music Ministers, Family, and Friends,

It is with great excitement that I invite you to join together for a very special journey to Scotland in June, 2028. We have an extraordinary opportunity to travel together to the land of our parish patroness—to experience its history, faith, music, and remarkable beauty firsthand.

Our journey will take us through some of Scotland’s most historic places, including Edinburgh, St. Andrews, and Dunfermline. In Dunfermline, where St. Margaret lived, worshipped, and was laid to rest, we will visit sites associated with her life and legacy and have the privilege of participating in the annual St. Margaret of Scotland procession. It will be a wonderful opportunity to learn more about the woman whose name our parish bears and whose example of faith, compassion, and service continues to inspire us.

Faith and music will be at the heart of our journey. We will attend Mass on both Sundays of the tour and, as a choir, look forward to opportunities to share our music in the places we visit. One of the most memorable experiences will be our journey to the Isle of Iona, a place that has drawn pilgrims for centuries. Surrounded by the extraordinary landscape of Scotland’s western islands, we will visit historic Iona Abbey and have an opportunity to sing in this sacred place.

But this tour is about more than the destinations on our itinerary. It is a chance for our musical community, families, and friends to travel together, enjoy Scotland’s beautiful landscapes and fascinating history, make music, deepen friendships, and share experiences that we will remember long after we return home.

Whether you are a singer, instrumentalist, a family member, a friend of the choir, or simply someone who would like to experience Scotland with our St. Margaret community, I hope you will consider joining us. I believe this will be a truly meaningful journey—a pilgrimage filled with faith, fellowship, music, discovery, and, of course, plenty of Scottish hospitality.

I look forward to sharing Scotland with you in June, 2028!
